CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the Clemson Opener on Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson. Junior LaShonda Cutchin set a Clemson school and track record in the 500m, winning the event in 1:12.96. The previous Clemson and Littlejohn record was 1:14.84, set last season by Nikkie Bouyer.
Other winners for the Clemson women’s program included junior Terri Robinson with a time of 7.38 in the 60m, and sophomore KeKe Elder with a time of 8.60 to win the 60m high hurdles.
The Clemson men’s track and field program won seven of 11 events at Saturday’s meet. Sophomore Todd Matthews won the 60m high hurdles in 8.02, and senior Shawn Crawford turned in a personal-best time of 6.64 to win the 60m. Sophomore Ato Modibo took first place in the 500m, winning the event in 1:02.51, and the Clemson 4x300m relay team placed first in 2:16.27.
In the field events, sophomore Kai Maull won the long jump with a mark of 24’3″, and sophomore Keith Rzewuski won the shot put with a throw of 52’6″. Sophomore Ryan Lewis won the pole vault with a mark of 15’7″.
The Tigers will next compete in the Clemson Invitational on January 14, 2000.
