The 2005 ConocoPhillips Summer National Championships wrapped up last weekend at the William J. Woollett Aquatics Center, and Clemson swimmer Michelle Parkhurst was honored as the Rookie of the Meet. Competing for Machine Aquatics under head coach Christian Doud, the incoming freshman finished sixth in the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:03.68.
Parkhurst placed second in the preliminaries after recording a time of 1:03.64. Her times are under the Olympic Trial standard of 1:04.59, qualifying her for Nationals for the first time.
