Hungarian Club Team Defeats Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – Andrea Karolyi scored 21 points, and finished the night with eight assists, and five rebounds in leading FTC-Diego, a Hungarian Club team to a 77-67 win over Clemson in a women’s exhibition game at Clemson, SC Thursday night.

Clemson was led in scoring by Nuria Forns and Datishella Byrd who both finished the game with 14 points each. The Lady Tigers were led in rebounding by Erin Batth with a game-high 10 boards. She finished the night with seven points.

The Lady Tigers shot a dismal 29 percent in the first half, but improved to 14-28 from the field in the second half. Clemson finished the game shooting 22-55 from the floor for a .400 figure.

The Hungarian club team shot 42 percent in the first half and 18-27 in the second half from the floor for a .667 figure. They finished the game shooting 30-55 from the field for a .545 mark.

Clemson will open the 1999-2000 campaign on Friday, November 19, as the Lady Tigers entertain UMass at 4:45 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum.
