Clemson, S.C.—Jessica Hoang fired an even-par round of 72 to lead Clemson on the second day of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club in El Grande, Puerto Rico. Clemson stands in 16th place with a 617 score after 36 holes. The third and final round on the par 72 course will be held on Tuesday.
Clemson had a 313 score for the day, one of 10 teams in the 16 team field to shoot at least 10 over par on the tough day for scoring. The average score for the 88 competitors was 76.4.
Hoang was one of 15 players in the field to shoot par or better over the 6,203-yard course. The junior had three birdies and three bogeys in recording her second round at par or better this year. She had birdies on the 10th, 13th and 18th holes, as she made a nine-shot improvement over her first round score of 81.
Lauren Stephenson is in the top 20 individually after 36 holes with a 148 score. The freshman had a one-under-par 71 in the first round and followed that with a 77 in the second round. She had two birdies in recording her five-over-par score on Monday and stands in a tie for 19th place.
Alice Hewson had just her second round over 75 all year on Monday with a seven over par 79 and she stands in 48th place heading into the final round. Sloan Shanahan had an 85 on Monday after an opening round 79 and sophomore Sydney Legacy had an 87 after an opening round 81.
