Hero of the Game #UNCvsCLEM

Today’s Hero of the Game is Joseph Clelan. Clelan, a 1955 Clemson graduate with a degree in Textile Engineering is a member of Tiger Brotherhood and an IPTAY donor.

Clelan served 28 and one half years in the Army and retired as a Colonel. He served in Vietnam and August 9, 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the first of his two tours as a Huey pilot. Colonel Clelan commanded over 1,000 soldiers in the 426th Signal Battalion of Fort Bragg, N.C. 

During his military career, Joe received two Legions of Merit, two Bronze Stars and two accommodation medals. After his retirement from the Army, he was appointed the Deputy Adjunct General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and was the President of the National Association of State Directors of Veterans’ Affairs for over two years.

At almost 82 years old, Joe presently resides in his home state of Pennsylvania. He has three proud children and eight very proud grandchildren.
