Harvey Named ACC Co-Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Kris Harvey and Georgia Tech’s Clifton Remole were selected as the ACC Co-Players of the Week, while NC State’s Michael Rogers was named ACC Pitcher of the Week.

Harvey went 9-for-18 at the plate en route to hitting .500 in Clemson’s wins over Georgia and three game sweep over Maryland. The sophomore outfielder collected three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times as the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 19-4. Against Maryland, Harvey hit .429 (6-for-14) including a pair of doubles and two home runs to slug .667 for the weekend. He also posted six RBIs and five runs scored as Clemson took all three games from the Terrapins. For the season, the Catawba, N.C. native is hitting .379 with five doubles, four homers and 20 RBIs.

Remole batted .647 in four games for the Yellow Jackets going 11-for-17 at the plate, leading Georgia Tech to a 2-2 record with wins over No. 5 Miami and No. 13 Auburn. In Georgia Tech’s 20-5 win over Auburn, the junior outfielder/first baseman went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. He followed that game with a 9-for-13 performance (.692 batting average) in Georgia Tech’s weekend series with the Miami Hurricanes. The Marietta, Ga., native went perfect from the plate (8-for-8) in games two and three against Miami collecting two doubles, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Remole currently owns a six-game hitting streak in which he is hitting .556 with 10 RBIs.

Rogers, a sophomore right hander, pitched eight shut out innings as the Wolfpack defeated Florida State 11-0, in game one of the three-game series last Friday night. Rogers gave up just three hits and one walk, while striking out nine Seminole hitters. The Hamilton, N.J. native allowed only three runners to reach scoring position all night. Rogers improves to 5-1 on the season with a 2.60 ERA. He has allowed 40 hits in 55 1/3 innings with 57 strikeouts.
