Harvey Named a Semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy

Junior pitcher/DH Kris Harvey (Catawba, NC) is one of 64 semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, as announced by the National College Baseball Writers Association on Thursday. The award goes to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player. On Tuesday, Harvey was also named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List. Former Tiger great Khalil Greene won both national awards in 2002.

The versatile two-way player has an ACC-high 16 homers (including nine in ACC games), eight doubles, and 49 RBIs to go along with a .356 batting average in 43 games. He also is 5-2 with a 4.55 ERA as a starting pitcher, and has struck out 49 against 21 walks in 55.1 innings pitched over 10 starts. He is 15-3 on the mound in his career as well.
