HALFTIME: #22 FSU 35, Clemson 28

Kelly’s 3 Point Stance:

  1. Key Reserves: Clemson’s bench outscored Florida State’s bench 19-11 in the first half of action. The Lady Tiger bench production has been led by sophomore Tiffany Lewis (9 pts) and freshman Makayla Johnson (8 pts).
  2. Transition D: The Lady Tigers held the Seminoles to ZERO fast break points in the first half.
  3. Stealing the Show: Clemson have already tallied six steals in the contest, only two less than Clemson’s entire steal total in the previous game against Georgia Tech.

Fun Fact from the First Half:Sophomore guard Tiffany Lewis has caught fire from behind the arc in the first half, connecting on three 3-point buckets. She had made just three of her previous 23 attempts coming into the game.

Keys to Victory:

  1. Clemson has forced Florida State into eight first half turnovers but have only scored five points off of those turnovers. The Lady Tigers need to capitalize on the Seminoles’ turnovers in the second half and turn them into scoring opportunities.
  2. The Seminoles have outrebounded the Lady Tigers 27-18 in the first half. Clemson is playing a match-up zone on defense which can make it hard to grab defensive rebounds. However, the Lady Tigers need to focus on attacking the glass on the offensive side and turning offensive boards into second chance points.
  3. The Lady Tigers play a smaller, more gaurd heavy lineup than the Seminoles and thus lack size inside. To make up for this, Clemson needs to push the ball in transition in the second half and try to score points in the fast break.
