Goule and Crownover Named AgSouth Student-Athletes of the Year

Women’s Track athlete Natoya Goule and baseball player Matthew Crownover were named the AgSouth Male and Female Student-Athletes of the year for the 2014-15 academic year. The two Tigers were honored prior to the Clemson vs. Duke baseball game on Saturday, April 18.

Goule was the 2015 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 800 meters, setting a meet record with a time of 2:01.64. She also established the ACC record in the event and helped the 4×400 relay to an All-America finish in fourth place. Goule was the ACC Indoor Track Performer of the Year and Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year to conclude a brilliant indoor campaign. Goule was recently named to the Bowerman Award watch list for the upcoming outdoor season.

Crownover, the team’s ace, is currently 7-1 on the year with a 1.21 ERA. Through 10 starts he has struck out 65 batters in 67.0 IP and has a 1.0 WHIP. Crownover was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, announced on March 23 after pitching 8.1 innings of five-hit ball with seven strikeouts without allowing a walk in Clemson’s 4-0 win in 10 innings Friday at Virginia Tech. The weekly honor is the second of Crownover’s career, as he earned the same honor as a freshman in 2013.
