CLEMSON, SC – Michaylin Golladay and April Sinkler of the Clemson women’s track & field team will represent Team USA this weekend as they compete in the NACAC (North American, Central American & Caribbean) Under-23 Championships in Miramar, FL. The competition pits the best track & field athletes from 32 nations against one another in a three-day meet. This will be the first Team USA representation for both Golladay and Sinkler.
Golladay will compete in the 100m hurdles and will also be a candidate for the relay pools as well. This past season, the red-shirt junior helped the 4x100m relay to an ACC championship and fourth-place finish at the NCAA meet in Eugene, OR. She was a high-level scorer at the ACC Championships in the high hurdles and was 13th at the NCAA national meet in June. Two weeks ago, the Upper Marlboro, MD product placed ninth in the event at the USA Championships.
Golladay is scheduled to compete in the preliminary rounds at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 9. The final will take place at 6:45 on Friday.
Sinkler will compete in the high jump, long jump and triple jump for Team USA. She was a four-time All-American and four-time ACC champion in 2010 for the Tiger program. Her top finish at the NCAA national meet was seventh indoors in the triple jump, which will be her first event Friday at 6:00 PM. She will then compete in the high jump Saturday (6:00) and long jump on Sunday (4:00). Sinkler was ACC Meet MVP both indoor and outdoor during the 2010 season.
