Glover And Engler Finish In Top Five In El Paso

EL PASO, Texas – Clemson seniors John Engler and Lucas Glover finished fourth and fifth, respectively at the Savane All-America Golf Classic on Tuesday. The event featured 16 of the top college players in the country. Engler finished with a 54-hole total of 206, seven under par, while Glover finished at 207.

Ricky Barnes, a sophomore at the University of Arizona, shot 5-under-par today for a 54-hole total of 196, shattering the tournament record of 201 to claim the Savane College All-America Golf Classic title at El Paso Country Club. The previous tournament record was set by Jay Don Blake (Utah State, 1980) and Jeremy Anderson (UNLV, 1998).

Past winners of the Savane Golf Classic include Jerry Pate (1974), Davis Love, III (1984), David Duval (1991), Notah Begay (1994) and Tiger Woods (1995).

Engler and Glover struggled early in the tournament. Engler had an even par 71 for the first round, then finished with rounds of 66 and 69. Glover had a 74 for the opening 18 holes, then finished 66-67.
