CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers women’s basketball team (10-5, 3-1) looks to keep up its momentum with a game against the Virginia Cavaliers (9-6, 1-2) in Littlejohn Coliseum on Thursday, January 9. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. and can be seen on the ACCNX with Don Munson and legendary former Clemson head coach Jim Davis on the call. It can also be heard on 105.5 The Roar or the Clemson Tigers app with William Qualkinbush and Jasmine McMoore on the broadcast.

This is the 80th all-time meeting between the two schools. The Tigers are currently on a four-game winning streak against Virginia.

Clemson comes into this game following a week in which it beat no. 20 California, after which the Tigers won an overtime thriller against the Stanford Cardinal. Cal came to Littlejohn as the 10th best three-point shooting team in the nation, while Stanford came to the upstate as the third-best shooting team in the country. The Tiger defense stood tall and held both bay area schools to a paltry 23% from outside over those two games. Clemson’s performances last week earned it the USBWA National Team of the Week award.

After last week’s two wins, the Tigers advance to 3-1 in ACC play for the first time since 2020-21. Should the Tigers win on Thursday, they would improve to 4-1 in conference action for the first time since 2018-19.

Loyal McQueen is coming off a week in which she averaged 22 points per game, including a new career high 26 points against Stanford, four assists and three rebounds per contest. Her efforts also included an amazing 12-14 effort from the charity stripe against the Cardinal.

Virginia makes the trip to Littlejohn Coliseum following a week in which it only played one game. The Cavaliers beat Wake Forest 69-46 in Charlottesville. Offensively, the Hoos are led by sophomore Kymora Johnson who is averaging over 17 points per contest, and senior forward Latasha Lattimore is is contributing 12.2 points per game.
