Game Preview

Clemson, S.C. – No. 20 Clemson (4-1, 1-1 ACC) travel to Macon, Ga. to face Mercer (2-1) for the first time in program history on Tuesday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m.  The game will be streamed live on ACCNX and live stats will be available here.

Clemson enters the game with two more games under its belt than Mercer. Most recently, on Saturday March 2, Virginia snapped Clemson’s four game winning streak and handed the Tigers their first loss of the season as they fell 18-12. The Tigers fought their way back to within one goal of the Cavaliers after getting in a four point deficit in the first quarter. However, another four point scoring run in the fourth quarter propelled Virginia to the win, making both Clemson and Virginia 1-1 in ACC play.

Shannon Brazier, Claire Bockstie and Caitlin McElwee all enter the Mercer game following impressive performances against Virginia. Brazier recorded her first hat trick of the season, Bockstie scored her third hat trick of the season, and McElwee notched her first two goals as a Clemson Tiger. With Bockstie’s hat trick, she now leads Clemson in goals, assists and points this season.

For Mercer, Gabby DiVirgilo leads the Bears in goals, assists and points. Meanwhile, Kayla Soltys leads Mercer in draw controls. So far this season, Mercer has outscored their opponents 50-38. Meanwhile, Clemson has outscored their opponents 78-49. The Bears enter Tuesday’s game on a two game winning streak as they defeated Kennesaw State 25-7 on Wednesday, February 28.
