CLEMSON S.C. –  The Clemson Tigers (3-0) return to Historic Riggs Field to play the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs (0-2) on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m.

The Tigers go into Wednesday’s game outscoring their opponents 63-5. After playing their first three games of the season, Clemson leads the ACC in goals scored (63), goals against (5), average winning margin (19.3), ground balls (59), and caused turnovers (34). In addition, Clemson’s very own Hanna Hilcoff leads the ACC in total number of goals scored with 16, averaging 5.33 per game.

Clemson is coming off of their first away game against Winthrop, where they almost had a shutout, as the Eagles didn’t score until the final minute of the game, making the final score 21-1. The Tigers impressed on both sides of the ball. Emily Lamparter and Krissy Kowalski combined for nine saves. Hilcoff tied her career high and scored seven goals, six of which were in the first quarter. In addition, Belle Martire, Chloe Willard and Gianna New all scored hat tricks.

Reflecting on the win, Head Coach Allison Kwolek commented “our goalies had another great day in the cage, coming up with some really nice stops. Our draw unit, led by Ella and Hanna, came up with almost every draw. It was nice to pick up our first road win, and we are excited to get back to Riggs on Wednesday.”

Losing their first two games against Cincinnati and Duke, Gardner-Webb is looking to get their first win of the season. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are led by first-year coaches in interim Head Coach Maddie Martin and Assistant Coach Lauren Sams who both played at Gardner-Webb and graduated in May 2022. Gardner-Webb returns eight starters from the 2022 season and are captained by Jada Preston, Danielle Burke and Heather Lobas.
