Game 3 – North Carolina A&T vs. Oral Roberts Post-Game Notes

North Carolina A&T:

Charlie Gamble’s homerun in the fourth inning was his 13th ofthe season. He led the MEAC with 12 HRs in the regular season. Thehomerun marked the first-ever for NCA&T in NCAA Tournamentaction. Starting pitcher John Primus hit five batters in 7.2innings pitched. During the regular season, Primus hit only eightbatters in 89.1 innings pitched. Primus recorded seven strikeoutsagainst only two walks. During the season, Primus sported a2.2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In the two games, Gamble batted4-for-5 with a homerun, an RBI and a run scored. With the loss,NCA&T falls to 27-27 overall this season. The Aggies drop to0-2 in its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance.

Oral Roberts:

Taylor McIntyre allowed only his second homerun of the seasonas Charlie Gamble sent McIntyre’s first pitch over the right fieldwall. Brian Hanson’s error at second base in the fifth inning wasonly his seventh in 60 games. Dennis Bigley, Friday’s startingpitcher and Saturday’s first-baseman, laced a two-out 2 RBI doubleoff the left field fence in the sixth inning. Bigley now has 15doubles and 42 RBI on the season. Travis DeBondt and Kevin Lamb,neither of whom played in Friday’s game, went a combined 4-for-9 onSaturday. DeBondt had a double and an RBI, while Lamb added a runscored. Kevin Lamb had three stolen bases on the day, a new careerhigh. ORU’s six stolen bases set a season high. The Golden Eagleswere a perfect 6-for-6 for the game. Starting pitcher TaylorMcIntyre struck out eight batters in 7.2 innings pitched. Lastseason, McIntyre struck out nine in a complete game three-hitter inORU’s NCAA Regional elimination game against TCU. With the win,McIntyre improves his record to 2-0 in NCAA Regional action. Withthe win, ORU improves its season record to 41-19. The Golden Eaglesare now 21-33 all-time in NCAA Regional play.
