Tigers Drop Match to Georgia Tech, Freshmen Shine in Singles

ATLANTA, Ga. – After a tough battle, the Clemson Tigers dropped their mid-week match to No. 32 Georgia Tech as the Yellow Jackets took the victory, 4-2. Newcomers, Marko Mesarovic and Stewart Aronson both recorded singles wins to secure two points for the Tigers.

The Tigers brought the fight early in doubles as the duo of Max Damm and Wissam Abderrahman were electric on court three. The pairing were quick to secure a victory as they downed the Georgia Tech pairing of Richard Biagiotti and Elias Shokry, 6-1 as they only allowed the Yellow Jackets a single point.

Battling on court one, the Tiger pairing of Noa Vukadin and Max Smith tried to top the No. 38 doubles duo in the nation in Marcus McDaniel and Keshav Chopra but the Yellow Jackets were able to find the win, 6-4.

With the doubles score tied 1-1, Georgia Tech took the final victory on court two and stole the doubles point for the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Georgia Tech recorded the first victory on court one as No. 18 Andres Martin was accredited with the first singles win of the match. The Tigers were quick to respond as Aronson was next to secure a victory as he topped Rohan Sachdev in two-sets, 6-4, 6-2 to award Clemson their first point.

Mesarovic shortly followed Aronson in another impressive two-set victory (6-4, 6-3) over Richard Biagiotti on court four to tie things up in Atlanta.

The Tigers continued to battle but the Yellow Jackets were able to come away with wins on court three and six to seal the 4-2 overall victory over Clemson. Abderrahman, who is currently ranked No. 75 in the nation in singles, had to leave his match unfinished, was close to securing a comeback set-win over No. 42 Keshav Chopra on court two.

Up next, the Tigers are back at home as they are set to play host to No. 20 Memphis on Saturday, March 16 at 12 p.m. at the Duckworth Family Tennis Center.
