Florida State’s Mitchell, Clemson’s Mamona Earn Weekly ACC Outdoor Track & Field Accolades

GREENSBORO, NC – Florida State’s Maurice Mitchell registered the current world-leading time in the 200-meter dash en route to being honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week. Clemson’s Patricia Mamona recorded the top mark in the nation in the triple jump and has been named the league’s Women’s Performer of the Week.

Mitchell paced a field of 24 at the Florida Relays to claim top honors in the 200-meter dash invite. The junior from Kansas City, Mo., competed in the event against both collegiate and professional sprinters. He clocked a time of 20.36, which is currently the fastest in the world.

Mamona made her season debut in the triple jump Saturday at the Florida Relays, clinching the top podium spot. The Lisbon, Portugal, senior bested a field of 24 with a leap of 43-10.0. Her mark currently ranks No. 1 among collegiate athletes on the national performance list.
