Florida State Downs Clemson in Men’s Tennis

Clemson, SC – Florida State won two out of three doubles matches and five out of six singles matches to defeat Clemson in men’s tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Indoor Tennis Center. The Tigers fall to 8-6 overall on the season and 1-1 in the ACC while the Seminoles improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the ACC.

Along with winning two of three doubles matches and capturing the doubles point, Florida State won five of the six singles matches against the Tigers. Victorious for Clemson in singles was freshman Nathan Thompson who won his match against Chip Webb at No. 4 in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. With the win, Thompson improves his dual singles record to 11-1 on the year. Picking up the lone with for the Tigers in doubles competition was the duo of Sander Koning and Goran Sterijovski who won their match at the No. 2 position against Alex Herrera and Matt Cloer by a score of 8-3.

The Tigers will next be in action this Saturday afternoon when they travel to Irvine, CA to take on the Anteaters of California-Irvine.
