Five Lady Tigers Post Regional-Qualifying Marks Saturday

April 16, 2006

Clemson’s women’s track & field team had a successful weekend both on the track and in the field. Five student-athletes posted regional-qualifying marks, including two hurdlers, two throwers, and a triple jumper. It gives the Lady Tigers a total of eight regional qualifiers so far this outdoor season.

Renata Miyamoto both posted regional marks in the preliminaries of the 100m hurdles at 13.71 and 13.72, respectively. Miyamoto finished second in the event in 13.79 seconds, also a regional-qualifying effort for the sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In the triple jump, junior Michelle Rogers posted a regional mark with a leap of 40’7.75″, which tied for the team-best so far this season. She was runner-up on Saturday in the event. A pair of throwers who already have hit qualifying marks this season did so again on Saturday in Della Clark and Rochelle Kokayko. A freshman from Kelowna, British Columbia, Kokayko won the hammer with a toss of 182’8″. Clark was runner-up at 178’0″.
