Cullowhee, NC – The Clemson men’s track & field team began competition at the Western Carolina Invitational on Friday. Freshman long jumper George Fields finished first in his event and established a facility record on his way to a regional-qualifying effort.
Fields posted a mark of 24’4.5″, a personal best for the first-year student-athlete, and finished ahead of Chris Gaillard and Rashad Herndon, a pair of Catamount performers. It was the second regional-qualifying standard he surpassed in two meets this outdoor season.
