Favrot and Johnson Jump in Recent ITA Rankings

CLEMSON, S.C.-  On Tuesday afternoon ITA Tennis released their most recent college tennis rankings. Freshman Alex Favrot and senior Luke Johnson were the big movers of the week in the doubles rankings, jumping 25 spots. The duo is now currently ranked 46th in the country, ranked inside the top 50 for the first time this season.

Favrot and Johnson finished the season with a 10-5 overall record and 3-4 in the ACC. The duo’s most notable wins include victories against 42nd-ranked Christopher Eubanks and Carlos Benito of Georgia Tech, 57th-ranked Thomas Weigel and Simon Norenius of North Carolina State and then 60th-ranked Marko Kirkovic and Edward Nguyen of Auburn. Favrot and Johnson were also leading 15th-ranked doubles duo, Lock and Nunez of Florida State before doubles play was discontinued in their March 4 match at Clemson. The dynamic duo was once on a seven-match win streak at the beginning of the season.

Freshman standout Alex Favrot was also a big mover this week in the singles rankings. Favrot jumped 31 spots from 121st to 90th in the country. He finished the season with an overall record of 16-9 while being 14-8 at number-one singles. Favrot also recorded three wins against nationally ranked opponents this spring.
