Eight Clemson Teams Post 3.0 or Better in Classroom for Fall Semester

CLEMSON, SC – For the third consecutive semester, eight Clemson athletic teams posted at least a 3.0 grade point average in the classroom according to data released by the University’s Office of Institutional Research.

The teams that posted at least a 3.0 were men’s cross country, women’s cross country, diving, men’s golf, rowing, women’s soccer, men’s tennis and women’s tennis.  This ties for the most different teams making a 3.0 or better in one semester on record.

Two-hundred and five of the 434 Clemson student-athletes had at least a 3.0 GPA for the semester, or 47 percent.  Twenty-four of those had a perfect 4.0 in the classroom.

“This is an outstanding report,” said Clemson Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich.  “It shows how much our coaches place an importance on academics.  We also want to thank Becky Bowman and her staff for their outstanding service.  Becky is retiring this year and we especially want to make note of her contributions to the academic success of our student-athletes for many years.”
