Duke Downs Clemson Volleyball

The Clemson volleyball team was defeated 3-0 (30-23, 30-21, 30-23) by the Duke Blue Devils Sunday afternoon in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils improve to 18-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play, while the Tigers drop to 13-10 and 4-4 in league play.

The Tigers were paced by sophomore Lori Ashton with 15 kills and a .385 hitting percentage. Sophomore Ryane Beasley tallied 13 kills, nine digs and a .242 hitting percentage. Junior Marija Zoric led Clemson at the net with five blocks (three solo) and recorded seven kills. Senior Jessi Betcher handed out 37 assists and a match-best 14 digs, and sophomore Stephanie Haskell recorded six digs.

Krista Dill led the Blue Devils with 11 kills for a .409 hitting percentage. Dill led the team with five blocks, while Rachel Vander Griend tallied four blocks. Katie Gilman recorded 12 kills and eight digs, and Jill Sonne posted eight kills and a match-best 13 digs. Arielle Linderman handed out 21 assists, and Stephanie Istvan tallied 18 assists.

The Tigers will play host to Maryland and Virginia this weekend in Jervey Gym. Clemson will take on the Terrapins on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:00 p.m. and will play Cavaliers on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free to all home matches.
