CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s diving team will travel to Atlanta, GA to take on conference opponent Georgia Tech at 11:00 AM on Saturday. It will be the third dual-meet in three weeks for the Tigers.
The Tigers competed against the Yellow Jackets last season in a tri-meet that also included the College of Charleston. In that meet, Juliana Melchionda led the Tigers in the one-meter with a score of 250.95 to finish third. Chelsea Uranaka recorded the highest Clemson score in the three-meter with a 276.35 to finish second.
Last week, Emily Howard qualified for the NCAA Zones in the one-meter event with a score of 293.95. Currently, that ranks as the ninth-best one-meter score in the ACC this season and is the best one-meter mark in school history. Howard also just missed qualifying in the three-meter recording a score of 279.65. She finished first overall in both events.
In two meets this season, a Clemson diver has finished first in each event. The Tigers have also occupied each of top-five spots in three of the four events.
Howard leads the Tigers with two first-place finishes and 23 points on the season. Megan Helwagen is second on the team with 13 points while Chelsea Uranaka is third with nine. Both Helwagen and Uranaka have a first-place finish this season as well.
