Diving Announces 2013-14 Schedule

CLEMSON, SC – Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams released the 2013-14 women’s diving schedule on Monday. The schedule features 11 regular season meets, including five home meets at McHugh Natatorium.

“I am looking forward to our 2013-14 competitive meet schedule,” said Hasselbach Adams.  “We will be hosting five different teams at home this season, which will give us a chance to showcase our Clemson hospitality. There is a steady flow to our meet schedule that will allow for us to compete and then make adjustments in practice as needed before our next competition.”

The Tigers will unofficially start the season with a diving exhibition on October 18 at 5:15 PM. It is a fun event that gives fans an opportunity to learn about diving while giving the divers an opportunity to showcase different dives.

“I am excited once again for our diving exhibition,” Hasselbach Adams said. “Our ladies will be showing our fans all of the elements of diving from the basic dives to the more difficult optional dives.  Then they will put on a high-flying, fast-paced diving show.  It will be fun for the whole family and you won’t want to miss out!”

The Tigers will then officially open their second season as a program with a home meet on October 26 against Georgia Southern and Richmond. Georgia Southern Head Diving Coach David Giambra will make his first return trip to Clemson as a coach. He was a diver for the Tigers under Hasselbach Adams from 2006-2009.

Clemson will then have a stretch of five straight road meets. The Tigers will take on Davidson and VMI in Davidson, NC on November 2. They will split the squad in half to compete at the Pittsburgh Invitational and the Georgia Tech Invitational on the same weekend in late November.

Clemson will compete in their final meet in 2013 when they take on UNC Wilmington in Greensboro, NC on December 15 and then kick off 2014 at the Georgia Invite on January 3-5. The Tigers will return home on January 18 to face Western Kentucky and College of Charleston before traveling south to take on Arkansas on January 25 in their final road meet of the year.

Clemson will conclude the regular season with two straight home meets. The Tigers will host College of Charleston on February 1 and James Madison on February 8. They will also host South Carolina during the regular season but the date and time has yet to be determined.

The Tigers will compete in the 2013-14 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, NC on February 19-22. The Tiger divers will look to earn bids to the NCAA Zone B Championships on March 10-12 in Greensboro, NC and the NCAA Women’s Diving Championships on March 20-22 in Minneapolis, MN.
