CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Volleyball’s Alyssa Deloney and Mckenna Slavik have been named 2019 All-ACC Academic selections, the conference office announced Wednesday. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
Deloney, a junior middle hitter majoring in Marketing, appeared in 28 matches, including 22 starts, and led Clemson in hitting percentage (.286) in 2019. The Houston, Texas native also led the Tigers in aces per set (0.27). Defensively, Deloney accrued 68.0 total blocks (0.75 per set), also good for second on the team. On Sept. 14, 2019, Deloney was named to the Clemson Classic All-Tournament after hitting .469 for the tournament and combined for 16 kills, eight blocks and three service aces in eight sets played against then-No. 9 Wisconsin (Sept. 14) and South Carolina (Sept. 12).
Slavik, a true freshman majoring in Sports Communication, started in all 29 matches at setter for the Tigers in 2019 and finished the regular season with the fifth-best assists-per-set average in the ACC. The Saint Charles, Illinois native also ranked 14th in the nation in assists per set among all freshmen and fifth among Power-5 freshmen. Slavik was named the ACC Freshman of the Week on Oct. 21, 2019, after guiding Clemson to back-to-back wins over Duke (Oct. 18) and Wake Forest (Oct. 20). Her 52 assists at NC State (Nov. 1) was good for a career best and the most by any Tiger in 2019. Slavik tallied 45 assists in Clemson’s sweep over Central Arkansas (Sept. 6), which were the most by an ACC player in a three-set match this season, en route to earning K-State Invitational All-Tournament honors. She was also named the Heather Kahl Holmes Setter of the Tournament for the Big Orange Bash after averaging a tournament-best 10.10 assists per set.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all ACC student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
