Final Clemson Practice & Memorial Stadium Departure

Clemson’s last practice in Tigertown was on Frank Howard Field in the morning, as the Tigers withstood cold temperatures. With a winter storm bearing down on the area, the team departed the WestZone at 1 p.m., to the cheers of hundreds of fans.

A Tale of Two Cities

It was a tale of two settings for the GSP airport departure versus the TPA airport arrival. The wintry weather began falling as the team took off in Greer. When the Tigers arrived in Tampa, it was off with the coats, with temperatures in the mid 70s.

Clemson arrived to an orange carpet and a local band playing “Tiger Rag.” Like last season, there was a giant prop in the form of a “2017” wordmark, a popular gathering place for group pictures.

After a quick interview session with the media and head coach Dabo Swinney, the Tigers took the short drive to the team hotel.

Team Meeting & Welcome Reception

The Tigers arrived at the team hotel at 5:15 p.m. After a brief team meeting, the Clemson players and staff enjoyed a welcome reception in a hotel ballroom. The reception had games for players and kids. The College Football Playoff logo and “2017” were all over the hotel grounds, a reminder gameday is just three days away.
