SEATTLE, WA – Clemson senior Chris Dart finished 26th in the 100 backstroke during day two of action at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Friday. With one day of competition remaining, the Tigers sit in 27th place with 12.5 points.
“This is Chris’s third major meet in March. He was a little off with his speed this morning in the 100 back,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “We will tweak his pace work tonight and prepare for the 200 back on Saturday. Saturday will see both Tigers competing, with (junior) Eric (Bruck) in the 100 free and Chris in the 200 back.”
Dart finished his preliminary heat in 47.83 seconds. The Clemson senior was only three-quarters of a second away from a spot in the finals for the event.
On Saturday, Clemson will compete for the final time in men’s swimming and diving, as Bruck will participate in the 100 freestyle and Dart will swim in the 200 backstroke. Once again, preliminary heats will begin at 2 p.m. ET and finals will start at 10 p.m. ET.
