Cross Country to Race in Furman Invitational Saturday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson cross country team is set to compete in the fifth annual Furman Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9. The meet will host 21 collegiate teams and will be held in Greenville, S.C., at the Furman Golf Club, which has hosted two NCAA Division I Cross Country championships.

The collegiate women’s 6K event will commence at 8:30 a.m., followed by the collegiate men’s 8K race at 9:15 a.m. The awards presentation begins at 1 p.m.

Clemson is coming off an impressive outing from this past Saturday (Sept. 2) at the Carolina Challenge, where the men’s team placed first overall and the women grabbed a runner-up finish. The men were paced by sophomore Andrew Emery (15:57.2), who finished third individually, while redshirt-junior Elizabeth Dawson (18:24.7) and senior Marketa Marcanikova (18:31.1) finished first and second overall, respectively, for the women on the 5K course.
