CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete at the ACC 2000 Cross Country Championships this Saturday, Oct. 28. Both teams are looking for their first ACC titles since the 1980s. The men’s team last won the ACC cross country title in 1988 while the women last claimed the ACC Championship in 1986.
The women’s 5,000m race will begin at 10:00 am followed by the men’s 8,000m race at 10:45 am. The top ten runners in each race will be named to the 2000 All-ACC team and the top true freshman in each race will be honored as the ACC Freshman of the Year.
The Tigers are looking to improve upon their finishes at the 1999 ACC Championships. The women’s team finished sixth last year while the men’s team finished fifth with one all-conference performer (Jason Meany). The men’s team will be led by freshman David Adams who has paced the Tigers in every meet this season. Senior Erika van Reenen will continue to lead the women’s team. Van Reenen has been the top performer for Clemson this year.
