Cross Country Set For Southeast Regionals Friday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete at the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional meet Friday at the Winthrop Farm course in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The women’s 6K kicks off at 11 a.m., while the men’s 10K race is slated for noon. Live results for Friday’s meet can be accessed via ClemsonTigers.com.

The top-2 teams from each of the nine regional meets automatically qualify to the 2018 NCAA Championships, which are set for Saturday, Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin. After the 18 automatically qualifying teams have been determined, the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee selects 13 at-large teams on Saturday following regional competition.

There are 41 programs and 331 runners competing in the women’s race while the men’s race features 39 programs and 310 runners. The program’s competing in the regional stretch across South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.

The Tigers will look to take advantage of nearly two weeks of rest after last competing at the 2018 ACC Cross Country Championships in Boston on Oct. 26. The Clemson women were led by sophomore Logan Morris (21:13.3), who placed 27th overall in the women’s 6K, while the men were paced by sophomore John Ward (24:57.8) in the men’s 10K race.
