CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete at the 15th annual Commodore Classic Saturday, hosted by Vanderbilt University. The meet will take place at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tennessee. Clemson was originally scheduled to compete at Winthrop’s Adidas Invitational Saturday, which was postponed due to Saturday’s forecast of high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Florence.
Saturday’s meet at Vanderbilt kicks off at 10 a.m. (EST) with the men’s 8K race, while the women’s 5K is set to begin at 11 a.m. (EST).
The Tigers are coming off impressive performances at South Carolina on Sept. 1 as both teams achieved runner-up finishes at the Gamecocks’ Carolina Challenge. On the men’s side, sophomore Colt Griffith completed the 5K course in 15:38.3 to place third overall. On the women’s side, sophomore Logan Morris paced the Tigers with a time of 18:09.0, good for a sixth-place finish among collegiate competitors. Additionally, the Tiger women (46 points) defeated South Carolina (52 points), making headway in the Palmetto series.
