Cross Country Heads to Furman

CLEMSON, S.C. — The men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Furman University to take part in the second meet of the season on Saturday at the Paladins’ home golf club. The Furman Classic is set to begin in Greenville at 8:30 a.m. with the women’s 6K, followed at 9:15 with the men’s 8K race. Thirty college teams are expected to compete in Saturday’s races.

The Tigers opened the 2016 season last week at USC Upstate’s Eye Opener Invitational. Both teams earned second-place finishes. The women were led by a pair of freshmen in Logan Morris and Jenna Gearing. The two finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the individual competition.

The men’s team was led by Micah Williams, a sophomore, and Justin Lippert, a junior. The two finished eighth and ninth, respectively, and were part of four Tigers inside the individual top 15 at Milliken Park in Spartanburg.
