Cross Country Finishes First And Second At Citadel Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s cross country team won the 20th Annual Citadel Invitational held Saturday morning while the women finished second behind Furman University.

David Adams won his second collegiate meet title with a time of 25:16 while Mike Barton finished third (25:49) to lead the Tigers. Travis Alexander turned in a time of 25:55 to place sixth and Ryan Fenton was tenth with a time of 26:22. Joe Harris finished 15th (26:44) while Brantlee Milner was 19th with a time of 27:13. Nick Luden ran a time of 28:06 for a 33rd place finish.

The women’s cross country team was led by Erika van Reenen and Perry Fields. Van Reenen finished second overall (18:14) while Fields was five seconds behind van Reenen for a third-place finish. Renee Keydoszius was ninth with a time of 18:53. Heather Nichols was 22nd (20:08) and Kristi Toothman turned in a time of 20:20 to finish 26th. Evan Ross posted a time of 21:06 for a 40th place finish and Jennifer Zawislak was 43rd (21:23).

The men’s cross country team will participate in the Furman Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 14, while the women’s team will have an open date.
