CLEMSON, SC – Due to a malfunction in the computer network between the timing and scoring systems on Saturday, multiple events were scored incorrectly. However, the only event which affected the outcome of the meet was the women’s 50 free. The original score listed Rice University’s Mandy Mularz as the second-place finisher. Mularz actually finished the event with a time of 23.33, thus earning first-place honors. Rice coach Doug Boyd was the first to spot the error, which led to a closer investigation of the meet scoring. It was then recognized that the 50 free times for Clemson’s Elise Thieler and Rice swimmer Katie Carrie were switched. This switch resulted in a four-point change to the final score for both Rice and Clemson, resulting in a 102-102 tie.
