BOSTON, Mass. – After the first day of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, Marie Forbes and Daniel Cope were both named All-Americans following their performances in the women’s and men’s weight throw.
Representing Clemson on the women’s side, Forbes shined as she held third place through the preliminary round to advance her to the finals. Finishing with a mark of 21.76m, Forbes secured fifth-place overall and was crowned First Team All-American. At the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships, Forbes secured a sixth place overall finish as she improved to place within the top-five.
Wearing a Tiger uniform on the men’s side was Daniel Cope as he threw 21.70m to secure an 11th place overall finish in the men’s weight throw. The mark helped Cope be named Second Team All-American.
With help from Forbes, the Clemson women currently sit in fourth place overall as a team with four total points for the Tigers. Events will continue tomorrow as the prelims for all track events are set to begin starting at 4 p.m.
