Colvin Named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball

Clemson, SC – Clemson outfielder Tyler Colvin was one of four national player of the week selections by Collegiate Baseball for the week ending May 21. Colvin is the third different Tiger to be honored four times by the publication this year.

Colvin was 11 for 13 at the plate with 14 RBIs in the three-game series with Wake Forest last weekend. His performance included a 5-7 game with eight RBIs last Thursday against the Demon Deacons in Clemson’s 26-1 victory. He had a four for four night with four RBIs in the second game of the series.

Colvin is hitting a team best .354 so far this season with a team best 18 stolen bases in 21 attempts. He has 12 home runs to rank second on the team and paces the club in extra base hits with 37. He is riding a 15-game hitting streak entering the ACC Tournament.

Also honored by Collegiate Baseball this week was Jonathan Green of Western Carolina, who had five home runs and hit 13-18 at the plate for the week, Brian Friday of Rice and Nick Schmidt of Arkansas.

Earlier this year, Marquez Smith and Andy D’Alessio (twice) were named a national Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
