@ClemsonWTennis Claims Top Four Singles Flights at RAFC

The women’s tennis team had a successful day Saturday at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, AL, claiming four singles titles and one doubles title in the prestigious tournament. The event was the final tournament in the fall season for the team, which opens up play in dual matches in January.  The field features players from 17 of the top Division-I programs throughout the southeast.  Yana Koroleva, Beatrice Gumulya, Romy Koelzer, and Tristen Dewar each went 3-0 en route to winning the top four singles flights. Additionally, Gumulya and Jessy Rompies claimed the Robin Stephenson Draw (Flight two) doubles title with a 3-0 mark.  Yuilynn Miao fell in the Ashley Bentley (flight six) championship final, while freshman Joana Eidukonyte took third place in the Jill Breslin Draw (flight seven).  Koroleva and Dewar teamed up to finish as the runners-up in the Alexa Guarachi Doubles Draw (Flight one), falling in Saturday’s final to Nida Hamilton and Brooke Rischbieth of Northwestern in the final.  Koroleva, ranked seventh in the nation, improved her record to 7-3 on the year, and topped No. 28 Mary Anne Daines of Alabama on her home court, 6-4, 6-2, to claim the title.  Dewar closed out a strong fall that included a team-best 10-3 record overall and two victories over ranked players.
