GREENSBORO, NC – The 13th-seeded Clemson women’s basketball team fell to fifth-seeded Syracuse, 63-53, in the Second Round of the ACC Tournament in the Greensboro Coliseum. Clemson’s season comes to a close with a final record of 13-19 overall, the second-highest win total in the last ten seasons.
Nikki Dixon (15 points) and Nyilah Jamison-Myers (15 points) each scored in double-figures for the second straight game to lead the offense. They had combined for 41 in Wednesday’s 69-56 win over 12-seed Virginia Tech.
Dixon hit a right-wing three to pull Clemson within three, 44-41, with 10:40 remaining, but the Orange went on a 12-2 run over the next four-plus minutes to pull away for the ten-point win. The game featured 10 lead changes and three ties.
Clemson shot a higher percentage than Syracuse for the second time this season, and fell to 0-2 against the Orange when doing so. The Tigers were 13-2 against all other opponents when out-shooting them.
Syracuse had just one player score in double-figures, Brittney Sykes, who had ten points on 4-13 shooting. Six other Syracuse players had six or more points, as the Orange knocked in seven three-pointers and scored 22 second chance points.
Player of the Game: Nyilah Jamison-Myers: The sophomore scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting and a 3-4 mark at the free throw line; She also added a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks
