GREENSBORO, NC – The 13th-seeded Clemson women’s basketball team fell to fifth-seeded Syracuse, 63-53, in the Second Round of the ACC Tournament in the Greensboro Coliseum. Clemson’s season comes to a close with a final record of 13-19 overall, the second-highest win total in the last ten seasons. 

Nikki Dixon (15 points) and Nyilah Jamison-Myers (15 points) each scored in double-figures for the second straight game to lead the offense. They had combined for 41 in Wednesday’s 69-56 win over 12-seed Virginia Tech. 

Dixon hit a right-wing three to pull Clemson within three, 44-41, with 10:40 remaining, but the Orange went on a 12-2 run over the next four-plus minutes to pull away for the ten-point win. The game featured 10 lead changes and three ties. 

Clemson shot a higher percentage than Syracuse for the second time this season, and fell to 0-2 against the Orange when doing so. The Tigers were 13-2 against all other opponents when out-shooting them. 

Syracuse had just one player score in double-figures, Brittney Sykes, who had ten points on 4-13 shooting. Six other Syracuse players had six or more points, as the Orange knocked in seven three-pointers and scored 22 second chance points. 

Player of the Game: Nyilah Jamison-Myers: The sophomore scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting and a 3-4 mark at the free throw line; She also added a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks

Stat of the Game: 22: Clemson allowed 17 offensive rebounds which led to 22 second chance points in the contest

• Nikki Dixon took her team-leading 13th and 14th charges of the season,giving her 30 in her career
• Dixon scored 15 points, her 21st game in double-figures this season, and 60th in 88 career games
• Dixon has scored in double-figures in all four of her ACC Tournament games
• Nyilah Jamison-Myers hit double-figures for the second straight game, totaling 15 points; She scored a career-high 19 points in Wednesday’s contest; She also led Clemson in rebounds (7) and blocked shots (3)
• Kelly Gramlich moved alone into fifth in school history for three-pointers made in a season with 66
• Quinyotta Pettaway fouled out in just 19 minutes in her 107th and final career game. She finished with eight points and five rebounds

Team Notes:

• Clemson falls to 30-35 in the ACC Tournament All-time
• Syracuse leads the all-time series, 3-0, with two of those wins coming this season
• The Tigers went 9-10 (.900) from the free throw line, a season-best. It is the first time the team has shot .900 or better in a minimum of 10 attempts since going 18-19 (.947) in the 2009 ACC Tournament upset of Georgia Tech
• Clemson shot a higher percentage (.429 – .397) but lost for just the 4th time all season. Two of those losses are to Syracuse, while Tigers are 13-2 against all others.
