Clemson’s Yannick Maden Advances in NCAA Singles Tournament

URBANA, IL – Clemson men’s tennis player Yannick Maden advanced to the second round of the NCAA Men’s Singles tournament with his 6-3, 6-4 victory over Gonzales Austin of Vanderbilt at Urbana, IL Wednesday.

Maden is ranked 26th nationally and improves his record to 26-8 overall this season.  Austin is ranked 48th nationally.Maden will play the winner of the Jarmere Jenkins/Ben Wagland match Thursday.  Jenkins of Virginia is ranked third nationally, and Wagland of Georgia is ranked 33rd in the latest national rankings.  Jenkins and Wagland will play later Wednesday evening.Clemson’s doubles team of Yannick and Dominique Maden will play its first match on Thursday when the Tiger duo meets Jarryd Botha and David Vieyra of Alabama.  The Alabama team is seeded 5-8 in the tournament and is ranked seventh nationally.
