Clemson’s Linkenauger Wins High Jump at Notre Dame

South Bend, IN – Clemson men’s track & field concluded competition at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame on Saturday. Adam Linkenauger posted an NCAA qualifying mark for the second time this season and won the high jump title, clearing 7’3″ to set a personal best.

Travis Padgett and Corey Brown both qualified for the finals in the 60m dash. Padgett was fifth with a time of 6.77, while Brown tied for sixth at 6.82 seconds. Brown also was sixth in the 200m, clocking a time of 21.68. That was a season-best for any Tiger in the 200m. In the same event, Cowin Mills posted the 11th-best time at 21.97 seconds.

Four Tigers competed in the 400m, led by Rashad Gardner’s 10th-place effort at 48.54. Andy Porter, Brent Hobbs, and Clay Pendleton placed seventh in 4:15.04, while Brian Knapp was 19th overall in the 800m with a time of 1:54.32, while Darrian Hodges also competed in the event for Clemson. Sean Reilly, Eric Soder competed in the 3000m for the Tigers as well.

In the 60m hurdles, Rashad Gardner’s qualified for the finals. Perry’s fourth-place finish at 8.04 seconds was the highlight in that event. In the 4x400m relay, Clemson’s “A” team ran a season-best 3:13.37, fifth overall at the meet.

Linkenauger’s performance in the high jump highlighted the field event athletes and elevated him to tie for third place in Clemson’s indoor record book in that event. Doug Ameigh also recorded a personal best of 7’3″ in 2002.

In late action Friday, Jason Bell finished third with a mark of 15.34m/50’4″.

The Tigers return to action next weekend, February 10-11, to take part in the Iowa State Classic at Ames, IA.
