Clemson’s George Kitchens Wins College Men’s Long Jump Championships

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Clemson men’s track and field team opened competition at the 2003 Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field. The Tigers’ George Kitchens won the collegiate men’s long jump championship with a mark of 25’5.5″. The sophomore from Hephzibah, GA, moved into third on Clemson’s all-time list with that leap.

Also on Friday, the Tigers’ 4x100m relay team advanced to the college finals with a time of 40.97. Clemson’s sprint medley relay team of Roy Cheney, Roy Cheney posted a time of 14.41 in the preliminaries of the 110m hurdles.

Clemson’s 4xMile relay team of Mike Barton, Roy Cheney, Rashad Gardner will also compete in the 400m hurdles, and Terrance McDaniel will compete in the high jump.
