Clemson’s Dwight Thomas and George Kitchens Earn ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, NC – Clemson’s George Kitchens as the league’s Rookie of the Year.

Thomas, a redshirt freshman from Burtonsville, MD, won three events on the final day of the ACC Championships at Charlottesville, VA. He provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships and posted a season-best in the 100m dash with a time of 10.27, and he also qualified in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.74. Thomas also won the 200 meters with a time of 20.73. The redshirt freshman earned five ACC track titles this season.

Kitchens, a freshman from Hephzibah, GA, finished second in the long jump at the ACC Championships with a mark of 24’07.25. His jump is the second best in the league this season.

Thomas currently ranks sixth in the country in the 200m dash with his season-best time of 20.45. He also ranks 11th in the 110m hurdles with a time 13.74 and has the 17th-best time of 10.27 in the 100m dash.
