CLEMSON, S.C. – Ceremonies that will induct former Clemson basketball greats Dale Davis and Barbara Kennedy into the school’s Ring of Honor have been postponed. The ceremonies were scheduled for halftime of the Feb. 12 game against Florida State at Littlejohn Coliseum, but were postponed due to Davis’s selection to the NBA East All-Star team. He will play in the All-Star game in Oakland, CA on Sunday, Feb. 13.
Both former All-Americans will be inducted together next season at an athletic event to be announced.
Davis will be playing in his first NBA All-Star game. He is currently averaging 11.4 points and 10.0 rebounds a game for the first-place Indiana Pacers. He was a three-time all-conference player for the Tigers, who led Clemson to its only ACC regular season championship in 1989-90.
Kennedy was a three-time All-American at Clemson between 1978-82. She led the Lady Tigers to their first ever ACC regular season championship in 1980-81 and to Clemson’s first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1982.
Both Kennedy and Davis have already been inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame and are Clemson graduates. Kennedy currently is employed as the assistant director of NCAA Compliance in the Clemson athletic department.
