Clemson’s Andy Giesler Finishes Second in Decathlon at Alabama Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. – Two members of the Clemson men’s track and field team competed in the Alabama Relays this weekend in Tuscaloosa, AL. Andy Giesler finished second overall with a score of 7196 points while Rick Hill posted a 12th place finish with 6457 points.

Giesler finished the first day in second place with 3811 points. He recorded a time of 11.33 in the 100m dash and a time of 50.49 in the 400m dash. He posted a mark of 6.90m in the long jump and cleared 6’11/2″ in the high jump. In the final day of competition, Giesler recorded a time of 15.51 in the 110m hurdles and 4:51.40 in the 1500m run. He recorded mark of 122’10” in the discus throw and a mark of 149’9″ in the javelin throw. Giesler cleared 15’9″ in the pole vault.

Hill completed the first day of competition in 12th place with 3445 points. He recorded a time of 11.37 in the 100m dash and a time of 50.82 in the 400m dash. He cleared 6’01/2″ in the high jump and had a mark of 6.33 in the long jump. He posted a mark of 37’31/4″ in the shot put. In the second and final day of the decathlon, Hill recorded a time of 15.59 in the 110m hurdles and 4:50.76 in the 1500m run. He recorded a mark of 124’7″ in the discus throw and 128’10” in the javelin throw. Hill cleared 12’51/2″ in the pole vault.

Clemson men’s track and field will travel to the Florida Relays Mar. 30-31.
