Clemson Women’s Track And Field Team Opens Outdoor Season At Georgia Relays

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s track and field team opened its outdoor season this weekend at the Georgia Relays in Athens, GA. Jamine Moton and Mandy McLane each provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Moton recorded a mark of 173’7″ in the discus, a school record and personal best mark. McLane provisionally qualified in the pole vault with a mark of 12’63/4″, also a school record and personal best mark. Both Moton and McLane won their events.

LaShonda Cutchin finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.03 while Shannon Murray was fifth with a time of 12.48. Kristi Toothman took second in the 10,000m run with a time of 40:09.71.

In the 100m hurdles, Keke Elder won the event with a time of 13.86. Nyjla Littljohn was second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.47 while Laura Cartlidge and Lauren Nicholson finished seventh (1:06.28) and eighth (1:06.47), respectively.

Clemson finished fourth in the 4x200m relay (1:42.79), third in the 4x400m relay (4:01), fourth in the 4x800m relay (9:56.38) and third in the sprint medley relay (4:23).

Katie Pickett placed second in the high jump, clearing 5’6″ while Lauren Nicholson was sixth with a mark of 5’21/4″. Nicholson posted a ninth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 16’51/4″. Sheri Smith placed sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 37’21/4″. In the hammer throw, Mary Gosselin recorded a mark of 133’4″ to finish sixth while Elizabeth Lord was fourth in the javelin with a mark of 93’5″.

The Lady Tigers will return to action next Saturday at the Clemson Relays to be held at the Rock Norman Track Complex next Saturday, Mar. 24.
