CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Clemson women’s track and field team concluded day one of competition at the 2005 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships tied for fifth place after two events. The Lady Tigers’ Della Clark recorded a career-best and provisional qualifying mark of 60’10.75″ in the weight throw. With that mark, she placed fifth in the event to score four points for the Lady Tigers. Krystal Woods and Mikaela Patterson also competed in the weight throw, placing 10th and 16th, respectively. Woods recorded a mark of 55’5″, tying her season-best mark, while Patterson posted a best mark of 46’8.75″.
In the pentathlon, Clemson’s Tia Perry and Jessica Earp placed 13th and 15th, respectively. Perry tallied 3008 points to tie for 13th, while Earp amassed 2800 points for 15th place. With today’s result, Perry moved into fifth on the Lady Tigers’ all-time list in the pentathlon. In the first event of the day, the 60m hurdles, Perry finished sixth with a time of 9.07, and Earp crossed the finish line in 10.43 to place 14th. Earp cleared 4’10.5″ in the high jump to place 15th, and Perry recorded a clearance of 4’9.5″ in the event for 16th place. In the shot put, Earp recorded a mark of 32’0.25″ to place eighth, while Perry was 12th with her mark of 29’1.25″. Perry posted a mark of 16’1.75″ in the long jump to place ninth, and Earp was 13th with a leap of 15’3.25″. In the final event of the pentathlon, the 800m, Earp placed 10th with a time of 2:39.72, while Perry crossed the finish line in 2:42.76 to place 12th.
