Clemson Women’s Track And Field Sets Ten Season-Best Marks At Penn State National Meet

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The Clemson women’s track and field team completed competition at the Penn State National Meet this weekend, setting 10 season-best marks. The Lady Tigers’ list of top times included two personal-record performances turned in by Danielle Whaley and Keshia Haughton.

In the 60m dash trials, all five Lady Tiger sprinters set season-best times. Whaley set a personal and season-best time of 7.80, while Kaprice Williams posted a time of 7.81. JaToya Moore recorded a time of 7.83, Haughton completed the sprint in 8.06, and Marquita Dortch had a time of 8.09. Haughton recorded another season-best time, as well as a personal-best, in the 60m hurdles. She posted a time of 8.66 in the preliminaries, then bettered that time to 8.64, placing fourth in the finals. Silja Ulfarsdottir recorded a time of 24.90 to finish 10th. Williams’ time of 25.57 was a season-best time for her, and Whaley crossed the line in 25.65. Ulfarsdottir placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 55.26, and Shakirah Rutherford set a season-best time in the 400m (56.81). Denise Cruse posted a time of 57.59, and Randi Hinton recorded a time of 57.61. The Lady Tigers’ 4x800m relay team of Nicholson, Angela Thomas, Casey Phillips and Laura Ann Rukat set a season-best time of 9:32.05, placing eighth. Gisele Oliveira placed seventh in the triple jump, recording a mark of 41’3″.
