LEXINGTON, KY – The Clemson women’s track and field team turned in three provisional qualifying performances at the Kentucky Invitational contested this weekend at Nutter Fieldhouse. The Lady Tigers recorded NCAA qualifying marks in the triple jump, 400m and 4x400m relay. Junior Gisele Oliveira won her second triple jump title of the season with a provisional leap of 43’2.5″, while senior Silja Ulfarsdottir clocked a time of 54.07 in the 400m to finish fourth and also provisionally qualify. Clemson’s 4x400m relay team finished second in that race with a provisional time of 3:36.80.
On the track, the Lady Tigers’ 4x800m relay team finished fourth in 9:24.02. In the 60m hurdles, Jelyn Quick was the top finisher with a time of 9.18 and Randi Hinton led Clemson in the 60m dash with a time of 7.71. Casey Phillips turned in a third-place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:02.30, and Shakirah Rutherford placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 54.62. Jessica Cousins finished third in the 200m, breaking the tape in 24.18, while Ulfarsdottir took fourth place in 24.21. Patrice McMillan led the Lady Tigers in the 800m with a fifth-place finish in 2:14.89.
Sarah Young cleared a season-high 11’8″ in the pole vault to finish third, and Gisele Oliveira won the long jump with a mark of 19’6.75″.
The Lady Tigers return to action this weekend as they host the Clemson Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24, in a One Clemson…Solid Orange event.
