Clemson Women’s Tennis Team To Play Four Road Matches During Spring Break Holiday

CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Tiger women’s tennis team will play four matches on the road during Clemson’s spring break holiday next week. The team will face Colorado, Brigham Young and Boise State on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Provo, UT and then travel to Tempe, AZ to take on Arizona State on Friday.

Clemson is currently ranked 13th according to the ITA poll released on March 9. The Tigers are X-X overall (2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference). The Tigers recently defeated South Florida 5-0 in Clemson and Furman 7-0 in Greenville, SC.

Monday’s match will be the first meeting between Clemson and Colorado. So far this season, the Buffaloes are 6-4 overall, most recently falling to New Mexico by a score of 5-2. Colorado is currently ranked 47th according to the latest ITA poll.

The Tigers are 6-9 all-time against Brigham Young. In 1999, Clemson upset then-18th-ranked BYU by a score of 5-4 at home. The Cougars, ranked 21st by the ITA, are 11-4 so far this season after falling to Oklahoma by a score of 4-2 last week.

This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Boise State. The Broncos are currently ranked 63rd in the ITA poll and have tallied an 8-4 overall record so far this season. In their most recent competition, Boise State fell to New Mexico by a score of 6-1.

The series between Clemson and Arizona State is tied, with each team having won one match. The Tigers won the last meeting between the two teams, defeating the Sun Devils by a score of 5-4 during the 1987 season. This season, 31st-ranked Arizona State is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10.
